The Short Version
RiseUpToHIV LLC, an independent Florida limited liability company, operates riseuptohiv.com. These terms explain the ground rules for using the site, contributing to its community spaces, and reusing its original work.
- The site provides education and community resources. It does not provide medical care, legal representation, or emergency response.
- You keep ownership of your contributions. Publication follows the permission and display choices you give.
- Do not disclose another person’s HIV status or other private information without permission.
- Confirm services, eligibility, and availability directly with a listed provider.
- You are welcome to share our original work for non-commercial education, with credit, as described below.
- Financial support is optional. Review the support terms, including monthly payments and cancellation, before contributing.
These terms apply to use of this site. Our Privacy Policy explains information handling, and our Disclaimer explains the limits of the content. Using the site or reading these terms is not a substitute for any separate consent required by law.
Education and Professional Care
Information here is general education, not individualized medical, legal, insurance, or financial advice. Reading a page, using a locator, or contacting us does not create a provider-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, or other professional relationship.
Use the medical disclaimer and legal and assistance disclaimer for the full guidance on care decisions, medication changes, and confirming coverage or eligibility.
In the United States, call 911 for a medical emergency. For suicide or mental-health crisis support, call or text 988. Contact forms and community posts are not monitored as emergency services. Outside the United States, use your local emergency or crisis service.
Stories, Messages, Photos, and Other Contributions
You keep ownership. When you submit material for publication, you give RiseUpToHIV a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to review, format, edit for clarity or length, and display that material on this site within the publication choices you make. You remain free to publish your own work elsewhere. This permission does not transfer ownership.
A private message stays a private submission. Sending a question through the contact form or by email does not by itself give us permission to publish it. A contribution form’s public-posting acknowledgment is different from a private request for help.
Read the form’s choices. Public posts are reviewed before appearing in the feed. They may use the display name and location you provide or the anonymous option shown on the form. The pledge’s public-name choice and the messages-of-support name choice are separate. Do not assume that omitting your name removes identifying details from your writing or photo.
Only share what you have the right to share. Get permission before including another person’s private health information, identifying story, or photograph. Follow any age requirement and acknowledgment on the contribution form. Do not upload confidential records. The Privacy Policy explains community storage, including private photo storage and temporary access links after approval.
Moderation is not a promise to publish. We may decline, shorten, correct, or remove contributions for accuracy, privacy, tone, safety, or relevance. Edits should preserve the meaning of your contribution. Follow the community guidelines when posting.
You can request removal. Email info@riseuptohiv.com with a link or details that identify your contribution. We may need to confirm that the request is yours. We can remove material from places we control, but cannot guarantee removal of screenshots, downloads, caches, or copies made by others.
Sharing This Site Is Optional
Sharing HIV education does not establish your HIV status or why you are interested in the subject. Other people may still make assumptions, and a public share may be associated with your social profile. Choose the audience and platform settings that suit you.
Sharing is optional and does not happen automatically. See how sharing tools handle information before choosing a platform or audience.
Community Standards
Follow the Voices Rising Guidelines when contributing. They explain our requirements for respectful, noncommercial, nonpartisan participation, privacy, and moderation. Personal experiences and respectful discussion of policy effects are welcome.
Do not impersonate others, submit fraudulent information or fabricated memorials, upload material you do not have the right to use, access private submissions, evade moderation, introduce malicious code, or disrupt the site.
We may decline or remove content and restrict misuse of interactive features. A moderation decision is not a judgment about someone’s HIV status or worth.
Locators, Links, and Assistance Information
Directory entries and external links help you find information and services; they do not establish an appointment, a professional referral relationship, eligibility, funding, or coverage. Inclusion does not mean that RiseUpToHIV endorses an organization or has verified every service it offers.
Confirm services directly with the provider. The locator disclaimer explains directory maintenance, outside-service limits, distance estimates, and which details to check.
For coverage or eligibility decisions, follow the legal, insurance, and assistance guidance. External services have their own terms and privacy policies.
Voluntary Financial Support
Our Support page offers PayPal, Ko-fi, Cash App, and Venmo options to help sustain RiseUpToHIV’s operating costs and continued development. Giving is optional; the site’s educational information and resources remain free to access. Support does not purchase a professional service, ownership interest, or editorial influence. The optional T-shirt thank-you described below is separate from sponsorship tiers.
Payment services. PayPal, Ko-fi, Cash App, Venmo, and the payment provider used at checkout have their own terms and privacy practices. Review the amount, currency, and whether you have selected one-time or recurring support before completing payment. See our payment privacy details.
Monthly support and cancellation. If you choose monthly support on Ko-fi, payments renew until canceled. Use Ko-fi’s subscription controls or, where applicable, the payment provider’s controls to stop future payments. Ko-fi explains how to cancel. Reaching a funding goal does not cancel monthly support. Cancellation does not itself refund an earlier payment.
Payment questions and refund requests. For a mistaken or duplicate payment, or another payment concern, email kevin@riseuptohiv.com with the payment date and transaction reference. Do not send card numbers, passwords, or bank-account details. We review refund requests individually. Nothing here limits rights available under applicable law or the payment provider’s policies.
T-shirt thank-you. A single contribution of $50 USD or more qualifies for an HIV awareness T-shirt. The design is coming soon; a shipping date has not been announced. After paying, use the supporter follow-up form to request the shirt. We verify the payment and follow up about the design, available sizes, and delivery before collecting shipping details. Public recognition and newsletter signup are not required. Contact kevin@riseuptohiv.com with eligibility or fulfillment questions.
Recognition choices. We ask supporters after payment whether to publish their chosen name and contribution amount, with a separate choice for each. Neither is published on our Support page without permission. The form does not itself confirm payment, change the total, or publish a listing. You can request a change or removal through info@riseuptohiv.com.
Funding goals. A goal describes what support is intended to help cover. Contributions can be used for the stated purpose as they are received, even if the target is not reached. If we increase or replace a goal, we will explain the next target. The current $10,000 goal starts at $0 and helps cover the self-funded site build, edits, promotion, and short-term operating costs. The meter is updated after payments are verified; it is not a live payment balance. It counts confirmed contributions before processing fees, less confirmed refunds, so the amount available to spend may be lower. Earlier personal spending is not counted toward this new total.
Tax status. RiseUpToHIV is not currently a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Support should not be assumed to be a tax-deductible charitable donation.
Reading Progress and Saved Articles
Reading progress, saved articles, and milestones are convenience features. They do not provide a certification or entitlement; see what milestones mean.
Progress is not guaranteed to persist, does not sync between devices, and may disappear if you clear site data or your browser removes it. The progress dashboard and Privacy Policy explain the controls and storage.
Using Our Work
Except where otherwise identified, RiseUpToHIV’s original writing and graphics are provided by RiseUpToHIV LLC. You may share links, quote, print, and reuse our original content for non-commercial education or community support with credit to RiseUpToHIV and a link to the source. Keep the meaning intact and identify changes you make.
Please ask before commercial use or republishing an entire page on another website. This permission does not extend to other people’s stories, photographs, artwork, logos, or other third-party material. Any license or permission from the relevant rights holder still applies.
For a copyright concern, email info@riseuptohiv.com with the page, the material at issue, and information supporting your request. We will review the concern.
Availability and Limits of Responsibility
We aim for accurate, useful information and welcome corrections. We cannot guarantee that every page is current, that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a listed service will be available to you.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its information are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To that same extent, RiseUpToHIV LLC and its contributors are not responsible for losses arising from reliance on the site or from external services.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or takes away mandatory consumer, privacy, or other legal rights.
Changes and Governing Law
We may revise these terms as the site changes and will update the date above. A revision does not retroactively expand permission you gave for a personal contribution or replace consent required by law.
Florida law governs these terms, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. Disputes are subject to the applicable jurisdiction and venue rules; nothing here removes rights that the law does not allow you to waive.
Reaching a Person
For questions, corrections, copyright concerns, or removal requests, email info@riseuptohiv.com or use our contact form. Please do not send medical records or other confidential documents.
Use on Our Social Channels
We share educational work through RiseUpToHIV’s social channels. Permission to publish a personal contribution on this site is not blanket permission to publish private contact details, tag your account, or disclose more about you elsewhere.
Voices Rising and pledge-message forms offer a separate, optional, unchecked choice allowing us to feature the approved contribution on RiseUpToHIV’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. It covers the approved text, any photo, and the display name you chose to make public. Leaving it unchecked does not affect moderation or website publication. It does not apply to pledge signatures or private Hub Form requests. Earlier submissions without recorded social permission are not opted in by this update.
Social tagging is optional too. Enter only your own Facebook or Instagram account if you want us to tag it when featuring your approved contribution. Providing an account in this optional section gives permission for that tag; it can identify you even if your website post is anonymous. Handles are kept with the moderation record rather than displayed on the website wall. We do not tag accounts from other fields or infer permission from a name or profile link in a post.
To withdraw social permission or request removal from our own channels, email info@riseuptohiv.com with the post link or enough detail to find it. We may need to verify the request. Other visitors may share links to public posts, and removal cannot recall screenshots, downloads, platform caches, or copies made by others. Social permission does not subscribe you to a newsletter or authorize advertising use.
