About This Site
RiseUpToHIV is operated by RiseUpToHIV LLC, an independent Florida limited liability company. It provides HIV education, community perspectives, and links to resources. Policy coverage supports learning and self-advocacy; readers seeking campaign involvement can explore the organizations listed in the Policy hub. Read more about the site’s purpose. It is not a healthcare provider, emergency service, law firm, insurer, or benefits administrator.
The project is grounded in lived experience and the Denver Principles. People living with HIV are participants in decisions about their lives and care. Our educational role does not replace the professionals or organizations responsible for your individual care and services.
Medical Information and Urgent Help
Articles, guides, search results, personal stories, and responses from this site are general information. They are not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or individualized medical advice. Discuss health decisions with a qualified healthcare provider or pharmacist who knows your history. Do not start, stop, or change medication, or delay care, because of something you read here.
In the United States, call 911 for a medical emergency. For suicide or mental-health crisis support, call or text 988 or visit the 988 Lifeline. Outside the United States, use your local emergency or crisis service. Our contact forms and community posts are not emergency channels.
If you may have been exposed to HIV recently, contact a clinician, urgent care, or an emergency department immediately about PEP. It must be started within 72 hours, and sooner is better. Do not wait for a website reply or a locator result. See the CDC’s PEP guidance.
Contacting RiseUpToHIV does not create a provider-patient or other professional relationship. This site is not a medical-records portal; please do not send clinical records or sensitive identifiers. The Privacy Policy explains information handling and the limits of confidentiality.
Legal, Insurance, and Assistance Information
Information about HIV laws, ADAP, Ryan White, Marketplace coverage, public benefits, and financial assistance is educational. Rules vary by location, program, plan, date, and individual circumstances. A page cannot determine your eligibility, guarantee funding or coverage, or tell you how a law applies to your situation.
Confirm current details with the administering program, insurer, a qualified enrollment assister, or an attorney as appropriate. Check the sources and reporting dates, especially before a deadline or a decision about care or coverage.
How This Site Is Created
AI is a primary tool for this site’s research, writing, and web development under Kevin’s editorial control. The full AI and personal disclosures explain how the project was built; How We Source explains evidence checks, reviews, and corrections.
Those processes do not guarantee accuracy or independent clinical review of every page. Lived experience and personal stories are valuable perspectives, but they are not clinical evidence or a promise that another person will have the same outcome. Use an article’s references and the source library to examine the evidence.
Florida and National Care Locator
The Florida Care Locator includes a maintained directory compiled from public sources and community knowledge. Its core list does not refresh automatically from a live provider database. ZIP searches can also request additional results from HIV.gov; the national search depends on that outside service when available.
Outside services may return incomplete results, fail, or be temporarily unavailable. An empty search does not establish that no provider or assistance is available. Distance estimates are approximate and may use ZIP-code centers rather than exact travel routes.
Confirm details directly before traveling or relying on a listing: address, phone number, hours, services, fees, insurance, eligibility, accessibility, and whether new clients are accepted. Service labels reflect the available source information; they do not guarantee that a particular service is available at every location or to every visitor.
Being listed does not establish an endorsement, an appointment, a professional referral relationship, or a guarantee of care. Please report corrections through our contact form. Search and location information handling is described in the Privacy Policy.
Statistics, History, and Updates
Statistics describe populations, not an individual’s identity, behavior, or prognosis. Publication dates can differ from the years the data cover, and estimates can change when a source revises its methods or receives additional reports. Check the cited source, geography, population, and reporting year before reusing a figure.
An update date does not guarantee that every statement or external link was independently verified on that date. See how we review articles and how to report a correction.
Reading Progress and Milestones
The Learning Hub estimates article completion using reading time and how far you reach in the article. Milestones acknowledge participation. They are not tests, professional qualifications, continuing-education credits, or evidence that someone understands or can apply medical information.
See Your Progress for the feature’s rules and controls, and the Privacy Policy for how its records are stored.
